| Falling into the routine of waking up early, going to work, coming home and sleeping only to wake up to follow the same routine again the next day is such a dreary thought. I try to liven up my life by taking part in different activities such as soft ball, dragon boat, and of course, seeing my beloved friends and family. But still the thought of having to go to work on Monday after a weekend just...well sucks!
Although today isn’t Monday, I’m still tired. Having to drag myself up and head to work was not something I wanted to do when my alarm went of this morning. But on my way to work today, something made me smile. I was getting off the streetcar when an old woman about to get on asked if someone could help her lift her cart up the stairs of the streetcar. Most people just walked right past her, but a little girl of probably no more than 11 went up the stairs and reached back to help this old woman lift her cart. It was such a sight that it just brightened up my morning and made me smile. In this day and age where everybody is such a busy rush, most people brush you off. But this little girl set such an example..
| A Fresh Start...with Food
Happy New Year! It's been quite awhile since I've updated. The holidays were good to me.. good food, good friends, and good times! :)
Anyhow, just this weekend, I got together with some Western friends, a lot of people that I haven't seen in a long time!! Cal got an indoor grill and cookbook for Christmas, so he decided to cook us dinner!! See the pictures below for food and game night.
Cal and Justin sampling the grilled veggies.. YUMMY!
Grilled peppers, grilled mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, grilled squash.. grilled everything
The girls - Cyn Y, Jo, Cyn T, Debbie, Big Al
Western ACFers minus me (I'm taking the picture)
We ate that... it was SO GOOD! Good job Cal!
Jerk chicken cooking on the grill
After dinner, we played a competitive game of Hungry Hungry Hippo. I swear I wasn't cheating. I was picking up a marble that flew out of the ring.
Some of us playing a game of The Pit... only the best shouting game ever! "Two.. two.. anybody two??"
And the cook book that inspired the evening.
| How do you say goodbye to someone you love? I can't even begin to choose the right words to express the sorrow I feel in my heart. I don't even know what to do to ease the pain or how to comfort my family. The only thing I can do right now is to remember the happy moments and share with them my cherished memories. And with that… I dedicate these memories to my cousin…
I will never forget the little things you did for me while I was growing up. Putting the telephone book on the piano stool for me… or playing Beethoven on the piano while I listened in awe. I
will never forget when you comforted me when I woke up crying in the middle of
the night from nightmares, or when you took pity on me because I didn’t
want to eat the veggies I hated even though my mom made me sit at the dinner
table until they were all finished. All of the little things that you did for me showed me how much you loved me and you will forever be in my heart. Rest in peace.
| TTC sucks on Rainy Days
I hate taking public transit on rainy days.. #1 the subway and streetcar gets packed with people carrying their umbrellas and half a million other bags and stuff. #2 you get wet by the umbrellas people are carrying b/c they're stupid enough to try and shake off their umbrellas on the subway or streetcar. #3 the streetcar fogs up and stinks like hell bc of the humidity and wetness #4 the subway and streetcar just stinks... oh wait, that's everyday! hehehe.
